About the Role – Positive Behaviour Support Clinical Lead (PBS)

Under the limited guidance and direction of the Allied Health and Positive Behaviour Support Manager, the Clinical Lead, PBS will support the coordination and delivery of Positive Behaviour Support services within the team, while providing specialist behaviour support to individuals with a range of disabilities, including psychosocial disabilities. This role contributes to improving quality of life, supporting individuals to achieve their personal goals, reducing the frequency and impact of behaviours of concern, and promoting the reduction and elimination of restrictive practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Development of individualised strategies to reduce frequency and impact of focus behaviours and support the reduction and elimination of restrictive practices.
  • Undertake assessments (including risk assessments) to support functional behaviour analysis and the development of behaviour support plans.
  • Ensure all positive behaviour support plans meet all state and federal regulatory and practice threshold requirements.
  • Develop and provide training for behaviour support plans to Implementing Providers, families and other support teams, using varied and individualised approaches.
  • Support the Senior Clinical Lead in providing supervision to core and graduate practitioners, as required.
  • Assist the Senior Clinical Lead in delivering mentoring, consultation, and guidance to the PBS team, including contributing to professional development and learning initiatives.
  • Support the Senior Clinical Lead in reviewing and endorsing core-level behaviour support plans, using evidence-based tools and approaches.
  • Apply specialist knowledge and qualifications to provide consultation and support in the management of complex behaviour support cases, as required.
  • Contributes to the development of innovative practices and programs to achieve outcomes and review and evaluate progress.
  • Utilises and promotes active support principles to promote meaningful engagement opportunities for participants.
  • Contributes to the development, review, and evaluation of behaviour support plans and implementation.
  • Maintains required documentation to ensure accurate records of support provision.
  • Meets organisational billable hour requirements

What You Need to Succeed

  • Proven ability to support others in their work, with an interest in building leadership capability, including supervision responsibilities. Strong understanding of the disability and non-profit sector, including governance and compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of PBS theories, models, and approaches.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders while working autonomously.
  • A flexible approach to work structure and hours to meet organisational needs.

Essential Qualifications & Licences

  • Current Drivers Licence.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
  • Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
  • Tertiary qualification that qualifies for registration with a professional body such as DEAI, AASW, APHRA, or similar.
  • Registered as a PBS practitioner at a proficient level or above.
